As we have 28 cards in our WILD VOICES set, we have decided to dedicate each of the 28 days of our campaign to one of these cards.
THE ELEMENTS
In the Wild Voices pack, as with other card sets of this nature, we use the 4 elements of
EARTH AIR FIRE WATER
The element gives a certain vibration or feel to the card which adds to the message you will receive. Each Animal falls under one of these elements.
Today we are touching into the
IMAGES IN THE FLAME
FIRE
FIRE! Heat and passion; inspiration and creativity. You are in the mood to get things done!
Find an outlet for your verve and vitality, find what sparks and motivates you and throw yourself at it. Be spontaneous and show UP for life!
Leap with the flames into your destiny.
In the WILD VOICES pack the sangoma’s DIVINING BONES are the symbol used for the FIRE
Key words: THE ANIMATING SPIRIT with PASSION, THE CREATIVE DRIVE and THE VISIONARY
Expressing the extroverted aspect of the masculine through the quality of ACTION
(extrovert – the external expression, to move outwards)
[Excerpts from the FIRE card in the book Wild Voices: Messages from the Soul of Africa
by Anne Keating]
“Vumisa!” shouts the sangoma, the African medicine woman, as she throws the bones for you. “Bring out the truth, make all things apparent!”
The Bones are a physical manifestation of the healer’s inner wisdom; they will show the way for healing. As she throws them they become symbols animated by spirit.
Healing has a strong association with Fire. The heat of Fire melts our chills; the smoke from the Smudge Stick cleanses our aura. Can you endure the Fire that cleanses and heals, that burns away the inner dross? Watch as the gold manifests around you.
The heat built up with loving sensuous passion is good medicine!
Feel the heat spread from your heart, from your belly ... let it soften the old hurt and hard places.
Let the old scars dissolve with the healing power of love.
Fire is also the impulse of the visionary, the one who prepares the way. If you currently find yourself in a position where the ‘sight’ of a true visionary is needed, move forward with confidence. You are magnetic! You are the motivator! Others will be inspired by you... but, now, step aside Pilgrim, and give others the space to fly. A person with authentic vision shines the light forwards so others can move ahead of him.
But while fire warms, heals, protects and inspires, it can just as easily maim and destroy. It is unpredictable when it is lightening, it wounds when it spills from the pot and kills as the raging inferno. The consuming fury of an African veld fire is terrifying.
Just as terrifying is the archetypal underbelly of fire which is chaos, delirium and mad euphoria.
Keep your fire-breaks in check Pilgrim, and watch out for smouldering coals slipping out from the hearth. Water is the element that cools the fervour of fire; keep a jug on hand!

How is the heat and passion of FIRE celebrated in Africa?
FIRE is …
the sun’s first rays piercing the ocean off the islands of Zanzibar, making Africa stir with desire
the raging blaze of a veld fire across the fynbos
the tremble in Jackal’s legs as he stalks his prey
the sun-whitened bones now stripped clean by Vulture
the passion in the roar of Lion as he calls across the Tanganyika plains
the morning sun warming the bellies of Meerkat family
the iridescent colours in the Karoo spring flowers
the majesty of Eland as he turns his noble head
the burning yellow rocks on the edge of the Huambo plateau
and the blazing stars that light up the heavens over the vast Sahara.
